Trump made the comments after reporters asked whether the co-pilot involved in the incident had been linked to Iran. According to CBS News, Trump said officials were “working on it right now” and that, based on what he was hearing, he believed a connection was possible. He did not provide evidence or further details supporting the claim.

The incident occurred on September 30 aboard FlyDubai flight FZ1073, which was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to investigators and reporting from Reuters, the co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain during the flight, sending the aircraft into a rapid descent. The wounded captain was able to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and other crew members to intervene. The aircraft ultimately made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

The flight was carrying more than 170 people when the confrontation began.

The aircraft experienced a dramatic loss of altitude during the incident. Passengers and crew members rushed toward the cockpit after realizing something was seriously wrong. They helped overpower and restrain the co-pilot, while other pilots who were aboard the flight assisted in regaining control of the aircraft.

Saudi authorities later said their preliminary investigation indicated that the co-pilot had assaulted the captain. Both men received medical treatment before being transferred to the United Arab Emirates.

Iran Connection Remains Unconfirmed

Trump's comments have raised questions about whether the cockpit attack could have involved an Iranian connection. However, available reporting does not establish that Iran directed, assisted or otherwise participated in the incident.Politics (Right)

Reuters reported that two Israeli security officials initially assessed that the Omani co-pilot was likely acting alone, while noting that the investigation remained ongoing. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said it was too early to reach a final conclusion about the motive or possible Iranian involvement.

FlyDubai has likewise urged caution. The airline confirmed that an altercation occurred in the cockpit but said the underlying reasons and motives remained unknown and subject to a formal investigation.

Investigators Examine Possible Motives

The United Arab Emirates has launched an investigation into the incident, including whether it involved terrorist activity, intent or advance planning.

Netanyahu told Fox News that Israeli authorities had information suggesting the co-pilot had undergone what he described as Islamist radical indoctrination. However, Israeli officials have also acknowledged that investigators are still working to establish the circumstances and motive behind the attack.

The possibility of an Iranian connection is therefore one line of inquiry rather than an established finding.

Fox News has also reported that U.S. officials are coordinating with counterparts overseas as the investigation continues.

Trump Warns of Consequences if Iran Is Found ResponsiblePolitics (Right)

Trump also said that Iran would face serious consequences if investigators ultimately determined that Tehran was responsible for the attack.

However, that warning was conditional. No publicly established evidence has yet demonstrated that the Iranian government was involved in the FlyDubai incident.

The investigation is expected to focus on the co-pilot's background, possible motives, communications and contacts, as well as whether anyone else directed or assisted him.

Investigation Continues

The FlyDubai incident has prompted renewed questions about aviation security and the screening of pilots operating flights to Israel.

Israeli officials have said they intend to strengthen security checks involving pilots flying into the country, including those working for foreign airlines.

For now, investigators continue to examine what caused the co-pilot to attack the captain and whether anyone else was involved.

Trump's statement has brought particular attention to the possibility of an Iranian connection, but that allegation remains under investigation and should not be treated as an established fact until authorities provide supporting evidence.Politics (Right)

The immediate outcome of the flight was that passengers and crew survived, the aircraft landed safely in Saudi Arabia, and the injured captain received medical treatment.
